High-Speed Disperser
High-Speed Disperser Overview
The High-Speed Disperser is a powerful and efficient mixer designed for rapid dispersion, emulsification, and homogenization of solid-liquid systems. It is particularly effective in breaking down particle agglomerates and wetting out powders in low- to medium-viscosity fluids.
Featuring a high-speed rotating disc blade, this disperser generates intense turbulence and shear, ensuring uniform particle distribution and consistency in applications like paints, coatings, inks, adhesives, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.
PM Industries’ dispersers are built for batch or inline operations and are available in both floor-mounted and top-entry configurations to suit varying plant layouts and process needs.
Working Principle
The disperser consists of a high-speed shaft fitted with a toothed disc impeller (also called a Cowles blade). As the blade rotates at high speed (typically 1,000–3,000 RPM), it creates a vortex that draws powders and solids from the top surface into the liquid. The high shear zone under the blade breaks apart agglomerates and rapidly disperses them, resulting in a fine and stable suspension or emulsion.
Key Features
- Rapid dispersion and deagglomeration of solids into liquids
- Ideal for pigments, resins, binders, and fillers
- Toothed disc impeller ensures efficient shearing and vortex formation
- Hydraulic or pneumatic lifting system for vertical adjustment (for top-entry models)
- Available in lab, pilot, and industrial sizes
