Sigma Mixer Overview

The Sigma Mixer is a robust, heavy-duty batch mixer specifically designed for processing high-viscosity materials such as adhesives, doughs, rubber compounds, sealants, and heavy pastes. The mixer features two counter-rotating, sigma-shaped blades that provide intense kneading and shearing action inside a horizontal, U-shaped trough. Its design allows thorough blending, wetting, and homogenization of dense and sticky substances that are beyond the capability of conventional mixers.

The Sigma Mixer is widely used in rubber, chemical, food, adhesives, explosives, and plastic processing industries where uniformity and viscosity control are critical.

Working Principle

The mixing action is carried out by two sigma-shaped blades that rotate toward each other at different speeds (usually in a fixed ratio of 3:2). This motion forces the material against the walls and across the trough, ensuring high shear and effective kneading. The mixer may be jacketed for controlled heating or cooling, and tilting discharge or bottom valves allow for complete material removal. The result is a homogeneous and consistent mass, even with very viscous materials.
